DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Scope of the Job:
This position reports to the Vice President of Operations and will be based at the managing facility in Austin, Texas. The Director of Nursing will verify the provision of quality care that promotes the highest physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident as determined by resident assessment and individual plans of care. The Director of Nursing will plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall nursing function.
Communicate and supervise nursing personnel with respect to professional conduct and counsel employees about job performance as needed.
Participate in staff development to include training and in servicing.
Will be responsible for interdisciplinary involvement in the development of plans of care to meet each resident’s needs; participate as needed in weekly resident care planning conferences.
Communicate with families any resident care issues.
Communicate with the Administrator daily to relay issues.
Communicate and coordinate with physicians, discharge planners or appropriate facility representatives from health care facilities regarding resident admissions, transfers and discharges as needed.
Communicate with attending physician and medical director regarding resident care issues as needed.
Review consultant reports and provide feedback on any POC.
Review any and all regulatory reports (i.e. 2567, Quality Monitoring reports, Quality Indicators, etc.)
Review policies and procedures adopted by the facility to promote regulatory compliance.
Review facility reports (i.e. facility QA reports and Simple CFS reports, etc.)
Review resident clinical records.
Provide training to the pertinent facility staff.
Perform direct care/procedures when needed; such may include procedures for which the staff is not qualified or licensed to perform or staff is unable to perform successfully.
Develop and verify implementation of POCs.
Attend QA meetings.
Prepare and forward on time to proper authorities all reports required by management.
Supervise nursing staff by regular rounds and conferences. Checking with nurse managers daily.
Evaluate the performance of licensed nurses periodically and discuss the evaluation with the employee, and oversee the evaluation of none licensed nursing staff, assisting when needed.
Keep current with the changes in all regulations related to resident care.
We seek a nursing professional with 3+ years of experience as a Director of Nursing in a skilled nursing facility. The perfect candidate will have stable work history and exceptional survey results.
To be considered, you must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State. BSN preferred.

Must show ability to read and write in a legible and understandable manner.
Must speak and understand English.
Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices and procedures and laws, regulations and guidelines governing long-term care.
